HINZE DAM ALLIANCE

In September 2006 Gold Coast City Council (GCCC) appointed the Hinze Dam Alliance (HDA), a consortium of private sector partners, to progress Hinze Dam Stage 3.

In late 2008 Seqwater replaced GCCC as the asset owner of the Hinze Dam.

The Alliance now consists of Seqwater with three private sector partners, Sinclair Knight Merz, Thiess Pty Ltd, and URS, leaders in major water infrastructure projects. These companies bring together the unique skills and capabilities to successfully raise the dam wall.

Thiess brings a wealth of experience in project and financial management, and the construction of major dams; Sinclair Knight Merz provides the expertise in obtaining approvals, community and stakeholder consultation, preparing environmental impact statements and recreational planning and URS specialises in dam design, engineering, and geotechnical investigations.

With an extensive history of collaboration on major infrastructure projects, members of the Alliance are confident in their ability to work together to deliver Hinze Dam Stage 3.

The selection of the private sector partners to progress the project through the design, approval and construction phases was conducted in accordance with the Gold Coast City Council’s purchasing policy.
